Jesus said, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21 NIV
Treasure is defined as ‘a quantity of precious metals, gems, or other valuable objects.’ As a verb, it means to keep carefully.
What we deem valuable and precious is what holds our heart. What we protect or “keep carefully” is a mirror into our heart. Want to know what’s in your heart? Look at the things you hold dear.
It’s sweet to me that Physical treasure is kept in chests because the heart is also contained in the chest.
I am Treasure. The more I surrender to Christ, the more I discover what’s inside my chest. Before I met Jesus, I was selfish. I didn’t learn that about myself until after I let Jesus into my heart. Before Christ, I was greedy and lustful, and if I’m honest, I struggle with this now. Before Christ I held bitterness and un-forgiveness in my heart toward others and myself. Before Christ, my heart was programmed to chase after the things of the world.
THANK GOD FOR REVEALING MY HEART TO ME so I could surrender it to Him! It’s not enough to simply accept Christ. I have learned that though I may come as I am, I must be committed to change. Jesus evolved several times in his 33 years on Earth. He was constantly becoming more and more like the Father. That’s what happens when we unlock treasure! It’s value rubs off on us and we become rich! A man who wins a $250 million lotto is considered rich once the money reaches his hand. He’s not money. He cannot purchase things with himself, but the treasure he has obtained has increased him in value.
This is also my testimony. The jewel that I have become is a direct reflection of the Jewel that I find in God. Because He is, I Am.
My heart itself is Treasure.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23 NIV
My relationship with Jesus is Treasure.
“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.””John 14:6-7 NIV
My mind is a Treasure.
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”Philippians 4:8-9 NIV
My talents are Treasure.
“A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.” Proverbs 18:16 NIV
My body is Treasure.
“You say, “Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both.” The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh.” But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.”1 Corinthians 6:13-17 NIV
My time is a Treasure.
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:15-16 NIV
My anointing and purpose on this planet is a Treasure.
“I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the Lord has done.” Psalm 118:17 NIV
It is not anybody else’s job to protect the treasure I have found. God allowed me to discover it. He gifts these treasures to me over and over and over. The depth of such treasure is immeasurable. Man cannot add or take from my significance. Money cannot afford my value. This treasure is something special and I have the privilege of guarding, sharing, & growing it. To God be the Glory!
If you have found treasure whether in yourself, in God or in another individual, praise God for it. Protect the pearls you have found. Be a good steward of the things you have been trusted with. Don’t let some random pirate roll up on your treasure and put his flag down. Don’t be moved from your treasure. It is YOURS!
